Kerf and trim: where material becomes waste
Parts adding up to one sheet can still fail to fit after cuts.
Kerf removes material between parts. Trimming removes a strip from stock edges before packing. In Timbrivo plans both occupy real space: the free rectangle starts after trimming and each split reserves kerf. On bars, the last cut can consume only the end remainder. Area yield is a statistic of the plan found, not proof of the minimum possible sheet count.
Reset example
Two 500 mm parts do not fit in 1,000 mm of usable stock when an intermediate cut consumes 3 mm. They need at least 1,003 usable millimetres.
