WORKBENCH GUIDE

Grain and part rotation in a cutting plan

Enough area does not guarantee the right grain orientation.

Stock grain is treated as parallel to the entered sheet length. Locking part grain keeps its length parallel to stock length. Unlocked parts rotate 90° only when the global rotation option is enabled. For matched patterns across doors or fronts, this lock does not preserve the visual sequence of one panel: identify and arrange those parts separately before production. Different materials or colours need matching stock names.

Reset example

A 600 × 400 mm part can fit rotated in a 500 × 700 mm usable sheet. With its 600 mm length grain-locked, it remains unplaced.
