SHEET MATERIAL
Melamine-faced board: weight per sheet, thicknesses and sizes
Particleboard (MDP) or MDF with a low-pressure melamine surface on one or both faces. Its weight is essentially that of the substrate, so the table spans the particleboard and MDF ranges of the Wood Handbook (specific gravity 0.6–0.9).

Weight per sheet
Volume × density, the same calculation as the weight calculator. Each cell uses the low and high ends of the source range as reference examples. For the panel you buy, use your supplier’s density instead of treating this range as a product specification.
| Thickness | 2,750 × 1,850 mm | 2,440 × 1,850 mm | 2,440 × 2,150 mm |
|---|---|---|---|
| 6 mm | 18.3–27.5 kg | 16.3–24.4 kg | 18.9–28.3 kg |
| 9 mm | 27.5–41.2 kg | 24.4–36.6 kg | 28.3–42.5 kg |
| 15 mm | 45.8–68.7 kg | 40.6–60.9 kg | 47.2–70.8 kg |
| 18 mm | 54.9–82.4 kg | 48.8–73.1 kg | 56.7–85.0 kg |
| 25 mm | 76.3–114.5 kg | 67.7–101.6 kg | 78.7–118.0 kg |
The sizes in the table are formats published by Duratex (Dexco). Sheet sizes and thicknesses vary by market and manufacturer: confirm what your supplier stocks.
Cutting, edges and fixing
The faces come finished, so the edges are what you finish: plan banding edge by edge in the cut-list or edge-banding calculator. The sizes and thicknesses in the table are those Duratex lists for its melamine (BP) lines; other manufacturers use other formats.
